Who wouldn't want to wake up to that smile?

Bill's schedule has changed. He has to leave an hour earlier now, and he gets a half day off on Friday. You know, I love the extra time on Fridays, but I miss that lost hour in the morning. I liked having Bill bring me coffee and talk to me as he dressed. He's a cheerful morning person. As a result, it was often my favorite time of day.
I am beginning to suspect that Bill misses our morning time, too. I've noticed lately that though he has been tip-toeing about as usual, the bathroom lights have been coming on earlier, and the bathroom door is being left open. Being the kind of sleeper who needs absolute darkness to get a good night's sleep, you can imagine that this practice would wake me up pretty quickly. I believe that he may intentionally be trying to wake me up...
Not even a pillow could save me...
This morning, after about ten minutes of artificial light beaming into the bedroom and my eyes, I finally reached over and pulled Bill's pillow onto my head. I was just getting it adjusted so that I had a breathing hole between the pillow and my nose when I heard, "Oh! You're awake!" It was very happy and a little bit fake, like, "oh-what-a-surprise!". Okay. I wasn't fooled. I wanted to sleep, but found myself laughing instead. Bill went into the kitchen and fixed me a cup of coffee, cheerfully talking about various things as I sipped on that cup of brew.
A mere five or ten minutes later, he was out the door, and I was fully awake. Now here I am at the computer talking to you and mentally warming up for a challenging art project I promised for this coming Tuesday.
I'm still sleepy, but what the heck. Who can sleep when the sun is up? Well, not me, anyway.
